Makhana is an ingredient India has always known, rooted in tradition and eaten in homes across generations. We are bringing it out of the traditional snack bowl and into everyday life, with flavours worth craving.
Why should good taste and good food be a choice
The Makhana Co. didn't start in a boardroom or a food lab. It started with a simple question. Why do we have to choose between snacks that taste great and snacks that feel good.
We grew up eating makhana. In our pujas, on fasting days, in our grandmothers' kitchens. It was always there, light, nourishing, quietly extraordinary. And yet somehow it had been left behind in the snacking world.
Born in Northeast India and built for the whole country, we took an ingredient Indian homes have trusted for generations and gave it the snack brand it always deserved.
Flavour or health should not be a choice
Walk into any snack aisle in India and you face the same choice, flavour or health. The snacks that taste incredible are loaded with oil, artificial flavours and ingredients you cannot pronounce. The snacks that are good for you taste like they are punishing you for caring.
We think that is a false choice, and we set out to prove it.
Makhana is naturally light, rich in protein and potassium, gluten free and low in fat. It does not need to be processed into something unrecognisable to taste good. It just needs to be roasted right and seasoned well. That is what we do. Nothing more, nothing less.

- Roasted, never fried. Every batch is roasted to a perfect crunch. No oil dunking, no deep frying, no shortcuts.
- Real ingredients. We season with flavours you would actually recognise, not a laboratory list. What goes on the makhana should be something your grandmother could identify.
- Taste first, always. We don't want you to eat our snacks because they are better for you. We want you to eat them because they are simply too good to put down.
- Sourced with intention. Our makhana comes from the wetlands of Mithila in Bihar, a Geographical Indication tagged crop grown by farming families for centuries.
